The rise of idiallectuals

Recently a study by Yale Psychologist suggest that “Searching the internet for information gives people a ‘widely inaccurate’ view of their own intelligence.”

Search engines like Google or Bing make people think they are smarter than they actually are because they have the world’s knowledge at their fingertips, psychologists at Yale University have found.

Browsing the internet for information gives people a ‘widely inaccurate’ view of their own intelligence and could lead to over-confidence when making decisions, experts warn.

In a series of experiments, participants who had searched for information on the internet believed they were far more knowledgeable about a subject that those who had learned by normal routes, such as reading a book or talking to a tutor. Internet users also believed their brains were sharper.

Psychology professor Frank Keil, of Yale University, said the study showed that the cognitive effects of “being in search mode” on the internet were so powerful that people still feel smarter even when their online searches did not help.

At one end search engine gives the over-confidence or illusion of an Intellectual being an idiot, social media platforms like Facebook gives a medium to brag about the stolen intellectualism.

This gives a birth to a new tribe called “idiallectuals

While the conventional route towards intellectualism is acquiring knowledge by reading books, researching, gather and interpret knowledge over period of time, they are really over power by aggression of the “idiallectual nomads”.

The rise of idiallectualism reflects in the kind of decision we take collectively politically and socially, which also shows the kind of leadership we choose globally.

Sadly the rise of idiallectualism leads to the fall of intellectualism.
